With Andrew Steinmetz
Using a previous collaboration as a starting point, in which Andrew invited me to make a video with him using whatever materials and ideas we could come up with during the course of one day, we will attempt to create a new one day video on site, during the gallery’s hours of operation. People visiting the gallery during the day’s shoot will be invited and encouraged to participate in the production of this video along with us, though participation is not mandatory.

Using a script written by artist Cassie Thornton about strange sitcom-like events that unfolded during a recent weekend she spent in Ithaca, NY, we will direct an open casting call in search of actors to play various roles in theatrical reinventions of Cassie’s recent experience. Throughout the day, gallery visitors will be invited to create simply staged dramatic productions with us, using Cassie’s memories and script as our guide. Costumes and wigs will be provided. No previous acting experience required.
08/16/09: Everything Must Go Episode - Closing Party & Group Show/Garage Sale
For the last episode of my residency at Heist, I will be organizing a one day "everything must go" sale, in the form of an open-ended group show/garage sale. Participating artists will be welcome to include whatever artworks they wish or to bring in actual garage sale items they are looking to liquidate. In order to widen the circle of participants, I have offered each person who I initially invited to participate the opportunity to invite their own “guest” artist to include in the event as well.
